S02E07: Proposal of the Law on Foreign Agents in Serbia

In the seventh episode of the second series, we will discuss the proposed law on foreign agents in Serbia and its potential consequences for democracy and the EU accession process. The law, which requires non-governmental organizations receiving foreign funding to register as "foreign agents," has sparked numerous criticisms, especially from the civil sector and international organizations. Comparisons with legislation in Russia, Georgia, and Hungary show that such laws often serve as tools to suppress opposition and restrict the freedom of civil society's activities. We will discuss the possible negative effects of this law on the independence of organizations dealing with human rights, democracy, and anti-corruption efforts.
