Ivan Salatlić, based on motifs from Njegoš's life, made a film about a declining economic power, about a ruler who is simultaneously a poet and a high priest, thus about a character who, according to basic data, corresponds to Petar Petrović Njegoš, but the figure of the ruler, poet, and priest is called Morlak and, physically, does not match the image we have of Njegoš. Duko, Morlak's servant, is the second main character who, from the greatest possible proximity and very disappointed, watches as the lord, struck by illness (as Njegoš was), falls apart. In this relationship between master and servant, the story unfolds in this extraordinary film by Ivan Salatić, in which all possible stereotypes are deconstructed, including those we have about Njegoš himself.
