Autumn begins with this year's harvest market: Find your nearest organic farm here
Økologisk NuIf you find it difficult to resist organic pick-your-own vegetables, farm animals, tractor rides, creative workshops, or communal meals, you should mark your calendar now for the first weekend in September. That is when 28 organic farms across the country will hold their annual 'Organic Harvest Market,' and everyone is invited. The Organic Association, which organizes the event, has now published a Denmark map showing where the organic host farms are located. Most parts of Jutland, as well as Funen, Zealand, and Bornholm, have at least one farm open for the event. And there is something for everyone, promises project manager at the Organic Association, Marie Boudigaard Granlie. "It is a festive weekend where consumers get an exciting insight into organic production and an understanding of how organic farming contributes to better animal welfare, clean drinking water, and healthy foods. The Organic Harvest Market clearly shows the difference it makes when you put organic products in your shopping basket," she says. What each farm has planned in terms of entertainment and activities varies, so it’s a good idea to check in advance what the different farms in your area have on their program. The variety from host to host is part of what makes this annual event so charming, believes Marie Boudigaard Granlie. "There is, among other things, the opportunity to harvest your own organic vegetables, join more nerdy guided tours, take a tractor ride, participate in communal meals, or get close to the farm animals. I can only recommend reading the different farm descriptions and finding the host that best suits your wishes."
