Thomas Bernhard – 'Putting the Cap of the Mind on Stupidity'

This is the title of the current exhibition about Thomas Bernhard at the Literature Museum of the Austrian National Library in Vienna. We will walk through the exhibition together, featuring life-sized photos of Bernhard, numerous listening stations, personal items such as a weather spot with a hat and traditional Bavarian shoes; a snippet from the opera ‚The Loser‘ – based on the novel ‚The Untergeher‘ – can be heard; additionally, excerpts from Bernhard's novels, read by himself. To listen, you can make yourself comfortable in his armchair.
In the program, you will hear – with the voice of the presenter – quotes from ‚The Untergeher‘, from ‚Wittgenstein's Nephew‘, from ‚Concrete‘ and from ‚Disorder‘.
Especially for the music lover Thomas Bernhard, there is Bach and Mozart to listen to; additionally, Chris Rea and Leonard Cohen.
