Viruses often encounter us in everyday life, especially now in autumn when the flu season begins again, for example. What relationships do we have with viruses and what ideas? Is the image only negative? In an artistic science communication attempt, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute is trying to find out. In the workshop The Virus Stories We Carry, participants created life-sized viruses from themselves and spun stories about viruses together.

The artist Sonja Bäumel and Christine Marizzi from the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Science Communication and Pandemic Prevention discussed in an interview how they want to spark curiosity about knowledge and how science and art must interact to re-engage even skeptical people. In the workshop, participants came into contact with materials used in real laboratories, from which they could freely create something new. For example, a Love Virus was unleashed into the world.
