Økologisk NuAfter a close competition with some of the country's strongest canteen teams, head chef Lars Jensen and the rest of the team from Søstrene Grene's canteen in Taghaven could celebrate as winners of the Canteen Award 2026. The Canteen Award honors food professionals and gastronomic talents who work every day to create good meals in the country's canteens, and in 2026, the jury paid special attention to ecology and sustainability, gastronomic craftsmanship, and the use of seasonal ingredients. The award was presented during the Food Day at Hindsgavl Castle, organized by Agriculture & Food, and it was a proud Lars Jensen who received the prize: "Before holding the trophy in your hand, you haven't dared to hope for victory! The award shows that we do very well daily – people eat better, greener, and more sustainably today than before – it's a huge recognition of our work and what we do every single day," says Lars Jensen, head chef of Søstrene Grene's canteen in Taghaven, in a press release. Strong gastronomic foundation In 2026, the jury looked at canteens that can document they have been awarded or have applied for the Organic Dining Label, work with sustainable, organic, and locally produced ingredients, think creatively in the kitchen, and take pride in providing guests with a good dining experience. "The Canteen Award 2026 was won in an exceptionally strong field. The winners demonstrated a strong gastronomic foundation, confident handling, and an impressive ability to combine flavors and satisfy guests. The high level is evident from the daily lunch to the cook-off, where each ingredient had its place, and the dishes were ambitious, beautiful, but firmly rooted in the everyday reality of the canteen. It is precisely this combination that makes Søstrene Grene a worthy winner of the Canteen Award 2026," says Anders Nicolajsen, head of Foodservice & Gastronomy. The other nominees for the Canteen Award were: Aamanns Kitchen – The canteen at Refshaleøen NDI Group A/S – The canteen in Brørup
