In this edition of Tandem China–Austria, two cultural spheres meet in many ways: from the historic gardens of Suzhou to the Danube, from Viennese Classicism to contemporary art and artificial intelligence. The opening is "Suzhou meets Danube" – a meeting in Vienna where Suzhou and the Danube symbolically come together and the cultural exchange between China and Austria becomes visible. The portrait features sinologist Leopold Leeb, who has been acting as a bridge builder between China and Europe for decades. We also get to know Amanda Yining, whose work connects both cultures. Musically, the program is dedicated to Viennese classical soloists and Vienna's cultural heritage. Another focus is artificial intelligence: we visit an AI exhibition in China and then take a look at an Austrian exhibition with interviews about the opportunities and challenges of this technology. The episode is rounded off with impressions from a hike in China and a report on the Belvedere exhibition in Beijing, which brings Austrian art closer to a Chinese audience.
