Math Oasis for everyone

"It matters too much where a child is born, but it shouldn't depend on whether they will have good results in science subjects or math. Moreover, math results not only represent a school grade but also determine the child's further education and future opportunities. Solving mathematical problems essentially plays a significant role in improving equal opportunities" – said Baloghné Békési Beáta, founder of Matek Oázis, mathematics teacher.

For children living in state care, Matek Oázis provides free access, and offers a 92 percent discount to disadvantaged students, schools, and municipalities. The initiative's goal is to make regular, personalized learning assistance accessible even to those whose families cannot afford private tutoring.

The latest PISA 2025 results particularly highlight the importance of this: 34 percent of Hungarian fifteen-year-olds do not reach the basic level of proficiency in mathematics, and 32 percent in reading comprehension.
